My work is my way of making sense of my internal world. I want to create figures that are curious, strange, and in some ways a part of me.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Making art for me is most cathartic when it is expressive. This for me means that I am working most likely with mixed media. Drawing has been a constant for me since childhood, incorporating paints brings me to meditation. Although at times, still frustrating. What is most freeing is my art is a place to work out all those emotions. It’s a form of processing. My favorite type of art is the art that feels it brings me closer to myself.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration comes from my experiences out in the world. My dynamics within my communities. My internal desire, despair, delight. I am deeply inspired by nature, dreams, and by pushing to empower the female form. I am passionate about bringing curiosity to people.
What would you do with $25,000?This would be a life changing experience for me. I would be deeply grateful. I would spend this to acquire a studio space for myself. Currently, I am living in Brooklyn, NY. My “studio” is a 3’x3’ space in my bedroom. Which is my only walking space. I would love to invest in painting bigger, invest in art supplies. I would love to create work that brings people together. I could invest in my art in a way that feels truly realized. My anxiety reduced to have the bandwidth to create, I’d make art.
