Art is life. It is a way to pass time and make sense of it. I paint color fields to find my place in space.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I paint color fields. I have slowly moved away from representaion and archetypes to experiencing color vibrations. My relationship with color helps me understand how emotions are affected. The limited palette allows me to feel the relationships of the spectrum of colors. I have painted simultaneously with sound artists and find tone analogies with color and sound/noise. I create my paintings with drips and drops, layering them with variations of the same tone to create a vibrant color field.
Where do you find inspiration?Language inspires me. Language in painting, music/sound, literature, film, photography, philosophy, poetry and other forms of expression. The language of everyday life, like walking my dog, navigating my relationship with my love one, getting lost in a book store and other experiences. I am inspired by the tenacity of older artist as I become one of them. How can I keep myself from closing up? Getting lost in a painting inspires me to keep walking through fear and doubt and seeing the new work.
What would you do with $25,000?I would dive deeper in the painting practice. I would put in a toilet in my loft. I would travel.
