Creating art excites me and motivates me to be my best. The process calms me and I love the feeling it gives me and others when they see it.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love to create portraits in charcoal and grey scale pastels. I also create still life paintings using oil paint. The dark contrast of black and white creates an eye catching piece and is my favorite medium to use. I mostly love to draw portraits of older people because the wrinkles on their face and neck and their eyes tells a specific story that I try to emphasize with my high contrast pieces.
Where do you find inspiration?I honestly don’t have a specific thing that inspires me to create. It happens unexpectedly, when I see a certain look in someone’s eye or in their stare when you know they are thinking of something, I capture that look in a photograph and then create my pieces. It happens whenever it feels like the expression of their face or eyes have something to say that they cannot say themselves.
What would you do with $25,000?During hard times in the economy I find it best to save for my future. I will definitely help my dad out, as he is one of my pieces and has inspired me a lot in my work to focus on mental health and people’s stories. I will help as much as he allows me to and save for my future.
