I can really appreciate how art making insists that I stay in the moment, it's taught me to accept mistakes and to be present.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I never in 1 million years thought I would say this, but I love to paint. I like being in the moment with each color and shape, and then the lines in the patterns that develop it's in the repetition that my mind slows down, and I can have a one-to-one moment with what I'm making, and I like that. I don't try to compose an entire piece ahead of time, I just let it evolve organically.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the colors and the brushes themselves, and on the paper. The patterns I see are the ones that repeat, or maybe on a textile - it's the shapes of everything around me
What would you do with $25,000?Being honest, I would like to take a breath. I'd like to buy myself a camera. I want to invest in a line of greeting cards that feature my art. I would like to fund some art therapy workshops for people who've had brain injuries where I live. There are no free programs, and I would like them offered without charge.
