I have struggled with mental health for as long as I can remember. Through creating art, i have developed a greater sense of self.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is visual art. I am a mixed media artist with a heavy focus on textiles, printmaking, and painting. I enjoy using a mixture of found object and non traditional materials with traditional tools and techniques. The results of said experiment, is the creation of my work for me.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the imperfections of everyday life. For so long I put so much pressure onto myself to be absolutely perfect. As a result for so long I’ve felt like a stranger in my own skin. It wasn’t until I lost every that I realized none of this matters, and that there is so much undiscovered beauty in the world. Through my own process of self exploration I have found that I can uncover a whole new perspective of the world around me.
What would you do with $25,000?I have always had a dream to buy an old warehouse, and renovate into a shared studio, gallery, community space. I would buy it in downtown Atlanta, and provide a space for up and coming creatives and entrepreneurs to be able to connect, and build their legacies. I would aim to provide not only rental studio spaces, but opportunities, jobs, and business back to the creative hub that is Atlanta culture.
