I’ve always been painting ever since I was young. To escape the challenges of everyday life, I can create a whole new universe artistically.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My art, could be described in the category of Pop Surrealism and is a mixture of fantasy and fiction. I love painting portraits of interesting people with interesting stories and also have a huge love for all kinds of animals, especially wild cats, which often appear in my work. Cats are very spiritual animals. I am always open to trying new styles of expression in my art because art expression is completely endless. My color use is very important and therapeutic to me. I love bright colors !
Where do you find inspiration?I find a lot of inspiration from things that have happened to me and stories that I read, as well as my dreams. I have wild dreams. I will note them when I wake up and quite often they morph into my art. A big emotion in a lot of my works, come from a TBI I suffered 10 years ago, where I felt very stuck in my head during the worst of my recovery, so my imagination was on a whole other level. I still tap into these feelings of hyper vigilance fueling strength and resilience in my work today.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use it to create more art and publish a book. I would use it to take the right amount of time to create a new collection of works specifically to paint stories that I’ve always wanted to tell the world in detail. The budget would help me take that time to create it and to publish a book of the collection. I have had many solo exhibitions but this particular exhibition needs more time and money and uninterrupted focus which I’ve never been able to fully afford. I would be very grateful.
