I create art because I feel like much of it is already in my soul and it needs to be released. I'm not sure I have much of a choice.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create are works of literature, such as novels, screenplays, short stories, memoirs and poetry. I also like making videos and short films.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration from life experiences, both the positive ones and especially the negative ones. I also draw a lot of inspiration from childhood experiences, as my work is often very nostalgic-feeling. Furthermore, I get inspiration from writers like Hunter S. Thompson, Nathanael West, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, Charles Bukowski, George Orwell, Henry James, John Milton, Robert Louis Stevenson, not to mention filmmakers like John Cassavetes, Stanley Kubrick and Alfred Hitchcock.
What would you do with $25,000?I would likely take that money and either turn one of my more lower-budget screenplays into a film or use the money to publish many of my novels in proper hardcover/paperback form. I'd especially like to hire a talented artist to create unique book cover designs or perhaps even illustrations for my novels.
