Hey! I'm making a series of ceramics that relate to sexuality from my own perspective and in a contemporary context with religious elements.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I am most drawn to creating ceramic sculptures that examine the intersection of sexuality, spirituality, and personal identity. By combining religious symbolism with contemporary perspectives, my work questions cultural boundaries and invites reflection. The raku firing process adds an element of transformation and unpredictability that aligns with my themes.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration comes from dreams and daily life, often appearing unexpectedly in quiet moments before sleep. I document these ideas in a sketchbook I always carry. Influenced by both sexual and religious imagery, I explore contrasts between intimacy and spirituality through my ceramic work. Truly, the ideas just come to me and only after I have drawn them do I realize why I had them subconsciously.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the $25,000 toward my tuition at SCAD, allowing me to continue my education and focus on my practice. It would also help me afford the materials and resources needed to fully realize my ceramic work without financial limitation. There are many concepts I want to bring to life that I believe can spark meaningful conversations and challenge perspectives.
