Art is how I express what I struggle to say. I hope it inspires others—artists or not—to find their own voice and be heard.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I don’t really have one favorite type of art because I like doing a bit of everything. Of course, I’m into visual arts, but also things like drumming, customizing my clothes, or making jewelry. I just like finding new ways to express myself. When I create, I’m always thinking about how to make it feel like me—how to make it mine. The best part is when someone else connects with my art, creating a sense of connection between us—that’s what I love most about making art.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in everyday life and whatever I’m into at the moment—music, people, my mood, or even random ideas that pop up. My immediate family is full of creatives, and they inspire me a lot too. We also have a creative space that serves people in the community, and that really keeps me motivated.
What would you do with $25,000?If I had $25,000, I’d probably split it between saving, helping my family, and investing in my creative interests. I’d really love to make art my full-time career, so this would be a big step toward that goal. I’d also put some into my community creative space to expand what we do and give more to people around us. I would also use part of it to help finish funding my bachelor’s degree in art. I completed the coursework, but I have not officially received my degree due to financial limitations.
