I’ve been making art since I could pick up a pencil. Before that, I used butter. It’s my way of processing my internal and external worlds.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Drawing is my forté, and the basis for everything else I create, including painting, mixed media, and sculpture. I love creating pieces that feel intimate and symbolic at the same time—capturing vulnerability, memory, transformation, and the unseen emotional layers beneath a face or gesture. I employ figures, landscape and my subconscious to blend realism with surrealism and abstraction.
Where do you find inspiration? My internal psychological and emotional world, as well as my physical environment all inspire me. This includes personal stories, nature, dreams, anatomy, music, and the contrast between beauty and pain. Museums, travel, literature, and everyday moments all influence my work. I’m especially moved by the way art can turn difficult experiences into something meaningful and connective.
What would you do with $25,000?I would invest it into expanding my art career by upgrading studio equipment, creating larger-scale work, funding exhibitions and workshops, and dedicating more uninterrupted time to painting. I would also donate part of it to the therapeutic riding program where my son rode horses before he passed away, to help support other children and families finding healing and connection there.
