I find meaning in my life through creating things. It's as natural to me as breathing. I believe I can liberate myself through art.

I am a wood inlay artist, and I not only create conventional two-dimensional works, but also elevate them to a three-dimensional form using my original technique called "Hyozen Wood Inlay." I earned my doctorate in this technique. Its characteristic feature is that it cuts out motifs as silhouettes, creating empty spaces within the motifs, thus evolving wood inlay into a flat decorative object that also conveys a sense of three-dimensionality.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration comes from what I see and feel in my daily life. Living with the changing seasons makes seasonal flowers seem even more vibrant. The colors of the sky and the weather are also closely connected to my heart. I am also sensitive to newly discovered things. Things that move my heart naturally appear in my work. I am also interested in "boundaries." I consider where the boundaries of things are, what form they take, and what meaning they hold, and incorporate these thoughts into work.
What would you do with $25,000?First, I would like to go to Europe to procure materials. Many of the materials for wood inlay are not available in Japan. Online stores only allow me to see the wood in pictures, so I would like to see it in person before buying. Also, I would like to upgrade the machinery in my workshop. I would like to extend the floor outside the workshop to make the workspace larger.
