I create pieces as a challenge to myself and to push my own creative limitations. I have been more into Dali but I try to be well rounded.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I enjoy surrealism the most. It really brings out my creative side and allows me to create things inside of pieces that otherwise wouldn’t “make sense” being there. I also dabble in creating iconic Pokémon card art. I do those more as a challenge to see how close I can get to the real thing and the are a big hit at local card shows in Knoxville where I live. But my passion is definitely more in the surrealism aspect. So many emotions can be conveyed in that style and I find it to be satisfying.
Where do you find inspiration?I look at nature and the world we live in to find inspiration. All the good and bad can be conveyed through the canvas and I try to bring that to life. Seeing people’s reactions to my work always brings me a lot of joy. No amount of money could change that. I feel honored to be part of this event even if I’m not the winner I feel I have already won by being included in some way.
What would you do with $25,000?Honestly this really isn’t about the money for me.. I work very hard to support my family and what I would appreciate most is to be recognized for my skills and abilities creatively. I’ve always been that “starving artist” type and just to have something to show for my 36 years on this earth and everything I’ve learned would be the best gift I could ask for. I appreciate this opportunity so thank you to everyone involved in this venture! I’m very excited to see what the future holds, much love!
