Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

Regarding mediums, my favorite art to create is mixed media! I love doing portraits (typically in alcohol marker) with additions of colored pencil for detail, and collaging backgrounds. My art is both chaotic and balanced. There’s usually a lot going on, but it’s cohesive and each part is intentional! I love to create art that makes me feel, as well as my viewer. This can lead to my pieces being very diverse. I believe art is one of the best ways to express yourself. Art is human at its core.

Where do you find inspiration?

I draw inspiration from a variety of things. Typically I will create based upon how I am feeling in that moment. Joyful, anxious, depressed, loving, even whimsical; it doesn’t matter what feeling, but I’ll do my best to put it to paper. I also am inspired by nature and the world around me. I love to tie in floral and ecological elements into all my pieces in some way! Other artists inspire me too. I love seeing beautiful artwork as it instantly puts me into the mood to create! Life is my canvas!

What would you do with $25,000?

$25,000 would be absolutely life changing. That money would help me to expand and grow my own business as a small artist. I also am very passionate about animals. I take care of many stray cats, and this money would allow me to give them an even better life. I’d be able to make sure they’re all always fixed, sheltered, and fed! This would also give the opportunity to travel to see family more often. Lastly, I'm a firm believer in being smart with money, so I would put a good chunk into savings!
