I am a self-taught photographer. My focus is primarily documentary and portraiture. My work explores the intersections of identity, migration and social justice within the context of mass displacement due to war and violence.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration from the people I photograph while advocating for human rights issues around the world. I believe art has the power to change and repair what has been broken. Empathy is the glue of humanity and indifference is the worst crime toward human suffering. I am continually inspired by the determination of those who seek a better life.
What would you do with $25,000?I intend to travel to Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria to continue my series following the crisis in Gaza. In 2025 I documented a group of refugee women and their children in Egypt who had successfully crossed the border. With funding, I would continue this documentary work and lead a specialized workshop for teenagers in the Middle East. This grant would allow me to provide the necessary equipment and professional training to help these young people tell their own stories and build a future.
