Visual art. Abstract expressionism mixed media pieces. I use a lot of acrylic paints, gesso for texture, oil pastels, chalk, pen.. whatever I can get my hands on. I also like to source antique frames and incorporate them in my work. Giving new life to something that has been left behind. Mixing “old” and “new” is interesting to me. Frames that have lived a life, holding modern, new expressions.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in my environment, music, art, feelings, emotions, community… everywhere. My practice is really a flow state thing for me. I have to feel it in order to create. Once I do, I jump on that wave and ride it as long as I can. Sometimes I don’t really know where that “inspiration” comes from. It’s not always mine. Sometimes I’m just the tool to express it.
What would you do with $25,000?I recently lost my sister unexpectedly, so I’d donate some to the ICU that took exceptional care of her. I’d give some to my Mum and other sister who aren’t as fortunate as me. And I’d reinvest any remaining in my art career. Investing in Healthcare, Family and Art are a great way for this money to go to work in my opinion.
