I create for many reasons, the biggest reason is that I want to bring positivity to those who interact with my art. Everyone needs escapes.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite kind of art to create is art that does at least one of three things. First, I like art that provides the viewer a pleasant experience. We have enough negative emotions in the world right now, I want to change that. Second, I have the most fun making art that tells a story and makes the viewer wonder. Stories are just parallels to life no matter how fantastical they may be. Third, I like my art to show flaws in humanity or show ways to improve (usually environment focused).
Where do you find inspiration?Art is interconnected with everything, so it is only natural to find inspiration in many places. Much of my work is inspired by my hobbies (dungeons and dragons, Pokémon, comics, vinyl records, etc), but more specifically imagery and other artists from the hobbies I enjoy. A big part of my work is community, I love the potential spread of art and how it can be a pleasant surprise in everyday life. I think of my art as more of a conversation with the community rather than a direct statement.
What would you do with $25,000?For one, I would save a good chunk of $25,000 to pay off my student loans. Debt is scary. After that I would work towards producing my comic, it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but I haven’t had the financial backing to seriously pursue the project. Next, I would make more stickers. I love to make stickers because they are cheap for others, and I can give them away so more people can have access to my art. Lastly, I would get more/better materials for myself and my art pals.
