I went to prison 2 months after my 16th birthday for 12 years. Art is my escape and therapy from a cruel environment.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
All my art was done with a ballpoint pen on whatever surface I have. Memorial portraits, I believe the secret to good art is empathy. When someone comes to me and shares the story of the person they lost I begin to care about the person as if they were my family.
Where do you find inspiration? For me art was escape from a cruel, hard environment. The ability to care in such an environment is diminished and so I learned to relate through art. It kept me human.
What would you do with $25,000?There is such a therapeutic value to art and I want to do a project to help show the humanity of the homeless. To express love and empathy, to hear the story of those forgotten.
