I create art to turn unseen systems, emotion, and energy into something tangible that invites reflection, connection, and wonder.

My favorite work to create is abstract painting because it lets me combine my background in engineering with intuition and emotion. I’m drawn to building layered, geometric compositions where color and structure interact, referencing the hidden systems we move through every day. In the studio, I’m always chasing balance—between control and surprise.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in living within a large urban city where visual ideas are everywhere. Houston’s mix of historic architecture and new construction constantly feeds my interest in structure, rhythm, and change. Beyond the built environment, the city’s active and supportive art scene plays a key role in keeping me motivated, engaged, and excited about pushing my work forward.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the prize money to participate in an artist residency, allowing focused time for experimentation and growth. I would also travel to another major urban city to study its architecture, infrastructure, and cultural rhythm. This research would directly inform future work and expand the visual language of my studio practice.
