Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

Gestural art is my favourite. Lines that create movement, feeling, shape. For me this is how I share and connect my experience and myself to the world around me. Movement and force creates shapes and ideas that engage me emotionally and regulate my life. Gestural lines show me a world of infinite possibilities that transcend into painting, sculpting, and drawing again. Creations of ideas come from a place of creativity that is channelled through gestural art.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration through my community: artists, friends, and people. In my city streets, conversing with others, and through my own lived experience. I am fascinated with places where we as people dwell and congregate, where dialogue is shared and developed. I am inspired by colours and lights, especially those that the eyes can only see for a brief moment, chromatic aberrations creating optical vibrations. I am inspired by artistic techniques old and new, from the monastics to today.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would use some to study classes with other artists in my city and in the world, to learn new and other techniques to sculpting, painting, and drawing. I would consider starting my own open art studio that brings others together and holds workshops. I would give some of it to a place that supports local art and artist and try to start local sculpting and drawing classes. I would try my best to share it with my community.
