At 72 years old, I need peace in my life and the way I can have that is to create it, so I paint peaceful scenes.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love to paint nature, either in landscapes that I remember as a young woman and wildlife paintings of animals. This is my way of reminding the next generations of the importance of preserving the beauty of our world and making sure that generation to come can see the beauty in nature and have the desire to commit to preserving it.
Where do you find inspiration? When I smell the freshness of the air after a rain, I reminded of the majestic Rocky Mountains, when I feel the wind in my face, I can feel the pounding surf of the Pacific Ocean and when I bend over to smell the bounty of my flower garden I can see the colorful meadows filled with wild flowers, all these things give me the desire to capture it on canvas.
What would you do with $25,000?In the basement of my home, I run a small studio to teach seniors the art of oil painting. I keep my prices extremly low at only 20.00 per student because most of the seniors are on a pension. The seniors love the classes, not only for the lesson, but for the friendships they have formed with the other students, so much so, that I am running out of room, so I would love to take the $25,000 and rent a larger studio to hold more seniors and buy more supplies for the class.
