I create art because I love to live, and it is in creating art that I have been given that gift to live so fully.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is whatever I can get my hands on. Over the years this has led me to switch between many mediums, from crafting with textured paper or rebinding favorite books, to dabbling in pencil and ink, an ongoing love for painting with acrylics and watercolors that often leave my hands and studio covered in color, and most recent and prominently digital painting as it has opened the door to art remaining accessible regardless of where my health may take me.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in color, flowers, feelings, a memory, or eyes of someone I love — for a long time those little things were something out of reach. I was born with a genetic disorder causing great loss in my life, from going blind in childhood to spending most of it confined to a hospital bed, & grieving loved ones lost. Thanks to advances in medicine & technology, my vision was restored. As my health became stable, the discovery of my passion for capturing precious moments, lives in paint.
What would you do with $25,000?25,000 dollars would give me the ability to pay off years worth of medical debt acquired whilst dealing with my chronic illness. As well as a future with my service dog in training, Finn, providing us with access to more specialized training resources to help get our needs met. It would not only be a life-changing gift but also a relief of many past burdens and an open door to continue in through the future.
