I create art because out of a chaos of possibilities, mistakes transform into meaning, and that keeps me creating.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I’ve explored many styles and mediums, but painting is where I feel most connected. Each piece begins differently—sometimes with a colour, sometimes with a feeling, and sometimes with no plan at all. The process can feel chaotic, where every brushstroke feels like a mistake, but I keep going until something starts to emerge. I love creating playful, surreal worlds with characters that feel alive. That moment when everything comes together is what keeps me creating.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in people. When I first started painting, I shared my work and was deeply moved by the joy and enthusiasm people had for it. That connection pushed me to keep creating. Over time, I began making pieces inspired by the people around me—their favourite colours, their stories, even small details, like a nickname. For example, one person told me their dog’s nickname was Pineapple, and that small detail became the heart of a painting. Those shared moments became paintings.
What would you do with $25,000?If I won the prize, I’d invest in larger canvases to grow my work—and enjoy driving around with a full tank of gas!
