I love creating art because it allows me to craft worlds where black figures hold power and mysticism through a single gaze or symbolism.

My favorite type of art to create is portraiture in acrylic because it allows me to capture both presence and emotion. I’m especially drawn to painting Black women, as their faces and expressions hold depth, strength, and untold stories that deserve to be centered. My work focuses on Black representation and female empowerment, using color and texture to elevate everyday beauty into something powerful and intentional.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the lived experiences and inner worlds of Black women—our strength, vulnerability, and complexity. Real people, personal reflections, and emotional moments often guide my work. I’m also inspired by elements of my own culture like hair, fashion, and skin tones, as well as music, literature. Emotion plays a major role in my process, influencing my color choices and compositions. I’m drawn to themes of empowerment, healing, and vulnerability.
What would you do with $25,000?If I had $25,000 as an artist, I would treat it as an investment in both my creative practice and long-term growth. First, I would upgrade my materials and studio setup—investing in high-quality acrylic paints, larger canvases, proper lighting, and a dedicated workspace that supports consistency and scale. I would also invest in professional documentation and branding, including photographing my artwork. Most importantly, I'd invest in my growth and build an impactful art career.
