I enjoy the ball point pen because of its erratic scribbles that become a smooth finish to a completed piece of art. It's an exact application leaving little room for errors. The pen allows me to create rustic and fine smooth pieces of art. The pen is a very uncommon medium however I'm continuing to find new ways to create texture. I draw from my head and memory and the application of the ballpoint allows me to remain in the image I hold in my mind refining it as I go.

I find my inspiration in the life I've lead. From current events from dreams and certain emotions whether my own or someone else. I've seen a great deal of suffering in my own life as well as that around the world. Through that suffering , I hope to create something beautiful that will make a person stop to ponder what the message is trying to convey. I just want people to be able to look at art whether it's mine or another's and feel the strength and beauty it speaks.

I would transition into a full time artist fulfilling my life desire to create art and add more joy to the world. The current work I do takes a heavy toll on my hands and I would like to move further away from that physically taxing work to create more pieces. Investing in my own art as well as encouraging other artists to not give up their dreams is also very important to me. In short, this award would help me to make the commitment to follow my own dream as an artist.
