Inspired by the idea of impermanence, I strive to capture fleeting moments and create stillness within the constant changes of life.

Receive Text UpdatesMy preferred medium is oil paint, though I have worked and experimented with many different mediums. I’m constantly inspired by the versatility and endless range of techniques that oil paint offers. There is also something deeply magical about working with a material that has carried the human story and its emotions across centuries. I primarily create figurative work that explores the human form, while remaining inspired by the challenge of capturing light and movement.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the world around me. In the quiet magic of everyday moments, the simple beauty of nature and our interactions with one another. Each series begins with a story and a core set of emotions from which the colors and imagery evolve. I am drawn to painting real people and authentic emotional experiences, exploring the tension between the realism of the figure and the abstraction of the environment.
What would you do with $25,000?As an artist and arts educator I feel passionate about art to inspire. I would use $7500 to support and expand my Positive Portrait Project (https://www.alannapeters.com/the-positive-portrait-project), sharing real life stories one portrait at a time. I would use $7500 to create a Women in Art across Borders Exhibition. Use $5000 to create scholarships to make my workshops more accessible. $5000 towards paying to renovate my studio space so I have a professional space to paint and teach in.
