Seeing the reaction for the people i create for. The appreciation my consumers & peers for my years of skill. Being able to just think of anyone idea & getting to work & seeing it come to life. I surprise myself every single time being able to see what I can think of & create. To carry on centuries of skill & Artistry that's passed down through DNA. Making my family proud & to be able to provide for my children with my art. It's a beautiful cycle of art & survival.
Where do you find inspiration?In my ancestors. In my children. In nature. In my parents & grand parents. I find inspiration by watching dancers. Other artists. Within myself. Pushing myself to believe in something & making it happen. Through using different mediums & textiles, creating just to see if it can be done. From my own home to representing who I am as an indigenous artist.
What would you do with $25,000?I'd pay off some of my families debts so I could create with a less stress free mindset. Having bills in the back of my mind motivates me but also it stresses me out, I want to create not just for the love of it, which I normally do, but without financial burden. Id invest some of it into my clothing designs I put on pause because it was getting expensive. Id maybe take my kids out for a weekend of relaxation. Maybe id buy a truck to pull my camper so we can powwow with our camper.
