Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

I’m most drawn to textile work, especially tufting. I love how it allows me to build texture, layers, and movement with my hands. The process is slow, which helps me stay connected and grounded. I’m really interested in creating pieces that evoke emotion in people and spark conversations, work that can shift the mood of a space and create a quiet, meaningful connection.

Where do you find inspiration?

A lot of my inspiration comes from nature. I grew up surrounded by lush, green landscapes, and now living in San Diego, the ocean shapes my work just as much. I take morning walks through local canyons, noticing plants and textures and how they form the landscape. Those layers, movement, and light show up in what I create. I’m also inspired by ceramics, from small functional pieces to larger installations, and by architecture, how art shapes a space and how people feel and connect with it.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would use it to grow my practice in a more intentional way, upgrade my equipment, source better materials, and create a proper studio space. Working from home has been great, but having more room would let me explore bigger pieces. I’d also take some classes, like ceramics, to expand my skills. It would really give me the chance to focus and build something for the future.
