Art is my therapy, escape from the anxieties in life. It calms me with a sense of renewed purpose - as an unemployed and disabled chemist.

The majority of my work is recreations of concert and movie posters. I preferentially seek out art templates that have bold colors, psychedelic influences, and are generally retro or vintage styles. The medium I use is heavy body acrylics on various canvas sizes. I started out painting on small canvases (20x16") but my favorite pieces have been on larger canvases (24x30") as I can be more detailed. I strive to make my work so precise that it appears as prints but are actually hand painted.
Where do you find inspiration?Music is the primary inspiration for my work as I am a big audiophile. I prefer concert posters from my favorite bands or various artists who I know have psychedelic influences that fit my aesthetic. Television and film are also big inspirations for me where I recreate pieces inspired by my favorite digital media. Often times I either listen to music by the selected artist or watch the associated movie / tv show while I work on my painting for inspiration and motivation.
What would you do with $25,000?I am a scientist by trade but truly an aspiring artist by passion. I recently graduated with a masters degree but had to take medical leave from the biotechnology industry due to physical and mental disabilities. Art therapy has kept me sane and given my anxieties a productive outlet, making it as important as my medications. The $25,000 would fund my artistic career and allow me to freely continue to create without financial limitations. It would also help with student loans and medical bills.
