I am an artist through and through. I started during Covid and found myself selling over 40 paintings in a year. I love color mixed media
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My passion is painting on objects, canvas, and especially wood. I’m drawn to wood because its texture and imperfections become part of the story. Much of my work centers on imagined women, influenced by my background in sociology and my focus on inclusivity. I often use a phthalo red and blue palette for emotional depth. I experiment with materials to build texture and paint mostly with my hands and sometimes even working upside down for perspective.
Where do you find inspiration?I’m inspired by the moment I am in and sometimes it doesn't make sense, but it is when I do my best work. As an extrovert queer woman in sales, I don't exactly fit in. I started painting during COVID for the first time and found my sense of purpose in life. That continuity is what drives me to paint every day. As I age you will always find me painting because it makes me so goddamn happy.
What would you do with $25,000?That money would make a huge difference to me. I was recently laid off, and while I’m fortunate to have a supportive wife and be financially stable, things are still uncertain. I would use it to keep painting—buying larger canvases and materials I haven’t yet tried. The money means more than money to me, it means I should keep making my art because it makes more than just me, happy.
