I love to create art that makes the viewer reflect back on their own memories and experiences. My paintings often call back to some memory or story I was told about my childhood, and I like when a viewer tells me "This reminds me of..." It means my art resonated with them.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the fact that nothing lasts forever. My work focuses on the ephemeral beauty in the relationship between life and death, often through depictions of nature, architecture, and personal nostalgic symbols. Captivated by its temporal nature, my work aims to depict the inherent spirituality of fleeting moments, based in the idea of memory.
What would you do with $25,000?I would contribute it towards my dream of opening a networking hub for artists in a less developed community. After growing up in New York and traveling throughout the Midwest, I found that a lot of talented artists aren't given the same opportunities in rural areas as they are in cities. I'd like to create a place where artists can invite a friend, collector, or colleague to get a cup of coffee and also show them their pieces in the same location, because everyone networks over a cup of coffee.
