Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love working in so many mediums, although I think my favorite type of work is portraying a feeling which can come from lots of different material sources. If I can convey something I have felt in my body through a thought, or an emotional response that is when I feel successful and that is strong motivation for me. If another person sees my work and I can convey a stillness, a heaviness, a joy, I would say it’s my best because I’m communicating a narrative only expressed visually.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration through every day experiences. The sounds of cars, birds, the joy I get when my kids & I are laughing, and the wonder I feel when I look at something majestic. Sometimes I imagine patterns like sequences or compositions. Being in this world is an inspiration because we have so much life around us. There are so many beings communicating, exciting things happening, and historic monuments that’ve survived decades and centuries that seem to hold endless and timeless humanity.

What would you do with $25,000?

Well to be honest, it’s very hard to live in this world as an artist. Both my husband and I are artists and living in a country that does not support that. We have two teenage children that are also perusing creative paths. We do just get by without any extended family support so the $25,000 would help me toward my dream of buying a kiln. It would be such an honor to be chosen; I’m always grateful to have the chance to show my work. Thank you so much for considering me.
