Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

Growing up, one of the happiest memories was going with my grandfather all over Sicily to purchase ceramics directly from the artisans. The smell of the workshops, the texture of the clay between my fingers..I touched clay again 20 years after, and it was like crossing a time portal: memories, sounds and even smells where flowing through. I had finally found a way to reconnect my past with my future, therefore being able to better understand and explore the present.

Where do you find inspiration?

What inspires me are also the small and large tensions of the present, the everyday worries, the constant race toward what I "need", the arrogance of loud voices, the overbearing force of those few, among others. With my pieces, I try to explore the strength that lies in opposite direction and explore concepts like slowness of execution, lightness, delicacy, fragility.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would use this money to launch start a studio space, which would serve the double purpose to allow my practice to grown and create a community space where I can host other artist and parents. Ideally, will be a place to connect the younger generation with this ancient practice, made to create new meaningful memories and inspire better future.
