Drawing and painting bring me joy that is palpable! I retired after teaching for 40 years and can finally create art whenever I want!
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is portraiture, especially the human face. I am partial to Prismacolor Colored Pencils, but I also love using oils. Using color to accentuate where the light illuminates the face is such a thrill for me as an artist.
Where do you find inspiration? After teaching elementary school for 40 years and rarely having the time to draw or paint, it’s easy to find inspiration in my daily life. I have the pleasure of taking care of our 20-month-old granddaughter now that I’m retired. She is often the subject of my portraits. As a dog lover, I also enjoy creating pet portraits for friends and family.
What would you do with $25,000?I can’t even imagine winning that kind of money! I think I would pay off our credit card debt and put the rest in savings. The world is currently in such an unpredictable state that having an emergency fund would be incredibly reassuring for my family and me. I never thought I would see the day when we would consider emigrating to another country. I hope it never comes to that, but knowing that we would have the means to do so, would be such a comfort.
