What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love to paint and my favorite type of art has included landscapes with mountains, lakes, and flowers. I usually paint with acrylic with a wet on wet technique to build layers. I have been using water color more and oil paint. Painting large scale murals has connected me with the community as I paint and talk to people watching the process. A mural is meant to be long lasting and it feels good to contribute to my community including schools or outdoor recreation sites.

Where do you find inspiration?

My mother taught me to draw on my school work when I was finished to avoid helping classmates. She always had a craft closet for me to try new things. We have traveled and tried new things. I assisted my father on photoshoots learning his art behind the camera. I am fortunate to work as a traveling nurse and experience the world. I draw the most inspiration from hiking to mountain lakes or being in nature. I seek adventures in all art forms painting the scenes as I feel them. Blending it all.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would grow my art career painting large scale murals to inspire artists and communities to grow their art. I would be allowed to stay home to impact the art community longer contributing to youth programs by being a hands on teacher, repair my kiln to open a pottery studio, buy paints for murals on the levee, and create scholarships or programs for others to create. This would complete a full circle allowing me to give back to my schools, theatres, art galleries, and the levee. Fulfillment.
