I love making art as it gives me a way to express my thoughts, ideas, and feelings in a visual way, while filling a void within myself.

My favorite type of art to make is oil painting and collage, focusing on surrealism. While I love to just create using any materials but find that I get into a flow when painting in a way that other materials don't give me that sense of escapism. I have been using collage as a way to gather ideas for my paintings, this process has become somewhat of a ritual and puzzle to find the message I want through the images I find.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration comes from a lot of different things for me. I use magazine images, dreams, nature, the world around me and globally. I am always looking for ways to tell a story about this life we are living, the good and the bad. I want to make images that speak to nature and how important it is. Dreams have always been surreal to me and act as a guide in what I create, providing me with the starts that then lead me to the imagery that would express these dreams in paint.
What would you do with $25,000?With $25,000, First, I would donate some to help animals in need. I would also like to be able to buy quality canvas and art materials and set up my small room studio to hold materials in a better way (where the cat and dog can't leave little footprints on them!) I have also been applying for more art calls, but each is usually $25-$50 each to submit, so I would like to create a savings for this when art calls come up. My dream is to retire from being an art teacher and be an artist full time.
