"To make living itself an art, that is the goal." -Henry Miller
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I don't necessarily have a favorite art type since my life is ever changing and my art can't help but do the same! But I do know if a special theme comes to mind, most of what I draw is around that theme. So I guess my favorite type of art is my new series called "Eve of the Newborn" -- a collection of pastel drawings based off of a symbol I dreamt in the artist's magical liminal space -- the half-awake-half-asleep state.
Where do you find inspiration?LIFE. LIVING. BEING IN LOVE with Nature, Animals, People. The Big Three. I try to capture their essence or spirit like the great Chinese wisdoms: less is more. I love symbols too. They are little messages that must come from an unconscious spring inside of us. I use art to make it all conscious, or at least try to understand it better.
What would you do with $25,000?I would save it to get land. I dream of building mini houses each dedicated to an art form I love: music, painting, fashion, books, film. It'd be a collective's home, a space for various artists to work in (or rather play in) that share a vision, a constant collaboration across mediums. It'd also be an animal sanctuary, filled with flowers, bees, and birds singing together with us.
