I need to create to breathe in, and I need to connect to breathe out. That’s why I create. It makes me feel free.

My first love was, and always will be, paint on canvas. I’ve spent the last 13 years loving life as a Tattoo Artist as well. I think I’m pretty impulsive with paint… in a good way. I don't really have a strategy when I start. It builds itself as I go. Lately, as I become hopeful for parenthood, I've been painting scenes that help heal my inner child. This contest has gotten me behind a brush again and ideas have just spilled out of me. I’m so grateful.
Where do you find inspiration?I get inspired in flickers by random images, sometimes in pop culture or old photographs. I see something and immediately add it to my reference folder. I start to imagine ways to twist it with meaning, then a painting is born. As I get older, I am realizing I don’t have to be shy with my subject matter. I make it for the weirdos like me. The first piece is called, “Self Portrait with a Bag on My Head” acrylic 24”x30” The second is called, “The Cats at Dad's Apartment“ acrylic 8’’x10”
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the money to help with the cost of adoption. My husband and I are hoping to become parents. We haven't been able to have children naturally. Indiana, where we live, has wonderful adoption programs. We are hoping to get our feet in the door later this year. Winning would be an incredible help. Please vote for me and let me know if you felt something with these paintings. Thank you!
