I mix traditional techniques and modern designs to create contemporary baskets that you use in everyday life. I make beauty with a purpose.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I like to create art that serves a day-to-day purpose. I make baskets that are bold and colorful as well as sturdy and strong. I weave pieces that you can enjoy displayed in your home and when its needed carry to the farmers market to bring home your favorite foods. Beauty with a purpose.
Where do you find inspiration?I enjoy incorporating overlays used by Indigenous people for many years. When creating flower inspired baskets, I turn to the flora I am surrounded by in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. I also love to incorporate as many colors of the rainbow into my work.
What would you do with $25,000?Breathe, provide for my family, and continue creating baskets that others enjoy and use. I will be able to pass on the tradition of weaving to others through classes. I will be a working Artist!
