Creating is the most innately human thing we can do. I create art to reflect the beauty and splendor of the world made by my own creator.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite art to create is anything challenging in it's craft. I enjoy the process of learning different skills and techniques and using them to create something completely my own. Right now, my main medium is metal. The amount of learning to be had is endless. In a practical sense, I tend to gravitate toward wearable pieces that reflect the wearers personality. That being me most of the time but I have made quite a few pieces tailored toward people I know well.
Where do you find inspiration?I find most of my inspiration from nature, architecture, and history. I have many pieces based on Gothic architecture specifically because of its awe inspiring facades and religious ties. Nature is also a huge source of inspiration. This comes into my work more abstractly where I usually mix it with other patterns. Finally, history. I am fascinated with mythology, cultural practices and historical techniques of making art. If possible, I try to incorporate those techniques into my work.
What would you do with $25,000?If I had 25,000 dollars, I would use it to get a head start on my dream career of being a bench jeweler. It would allow me to explore different places, meet different people and to get trained in that craft. Sometimes it's hard to create connections in a field that you aren't born connected to. So, this would give me the opportunity to create a new legacy for my family and be able to keep creating.
