I adore human anatomy, landscapes, and still lives but I specialize in portraiture. The average human has the ability to produce 10,000 different facial expressions and I’m determined to capture as much of that as I can while my hands still function.
Where do you find inspiration?I draw inspiration from a myriad of things. From past lived raindrops on a train window, to the look of wonder and curiosity on a child’s face. I’m immensely inspired by the greats too! Caravaggio’s use of chiaroscuro is probably something I’ll spend the rest of my days trying to emulate in my work. I just love that exaggerated contrast of light and dark values. Van Gogh is another that I adore, his use of color theory and rhythmic brushstrokes is truly something to behold.
What would you do with $25,000?Firstly, get my own studio! Cannot stress how stressful it is to create at home with little space for creation. I love living with my family but most of my art lives cramped in my portfolio cases sadly. Secondly, I’d be able to afford to keep my website open for bookings (commissions, merchandise etc.) & get an LLC. Lastly, but definitely not the least, buy about $2000 worth of art supplies. I’m a multimedia girly and the main restrictions to my creativity is not having the finances for my art.
