.Art allows me to channel emotions and expel my own inner darkness by exposing the hidden depths of the world through color.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite art to create is abstract portraiture and landscapes. I love taking recognizable faces or scenic imagery and reimagining them through bold color, texture, and abstraction while still preserving their essence. I also enjoy creating pour paintings using discounted “mistake” house paints, because they allow me to create freely, intuitively, and without limits or rigid rules.
Where do you find inspiration? The emotions and vibes I feel from places and people around me are what inspire me. I’m fascinated by the contrast between outward appearance and inner experience, and I use color and geometric forms to show those hidden layers. The world is far more complex than what is visible on the surface and beauty is not just surface level deep. I try to show those hidden layers as I see and feel them hoping to make people take a deeper look at everything and everyone around.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the $25,000 to invest fully in my creativity. I would purchase a wide range of canvases, professional paints, and other supplies I’ve spent years either wanting or having to ration if bought. Having the money for quality materials without limitation would allow me to experiment freely, work on larger pieces, and push my work in new directions. I would also build or purchase a small backyard studio shed so I could move out of the crowded garage, which would make my hubby happy!
