Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love making photographs and immersive installations. I always wondered what it would feel like to step into one of my photographs and my installations are a portal into that experience. I adore going on adventures in nature and across the globe to make images that speak to my sense of wonder. Creating environmental artwork through which I can share that sense of awe is an opportunity to channel the creative force of the universe and encourage audiences to preserve our planet.

Where do you find inspiration?

I am inspired by learning new things, experiencing beauty, and encountering the sublime. By immersing myself in natural environments, mystical experiences, and culturally rich communities, I am inspired to deepen my own understanding while sharing my insights with others. I am energized by the power of nature and as well as the power of relationship. Through art, I can share a connection to the life-force in each of us while building respect and support for the environment.

What would you do with $25,000?

I am creating a new large scale silk installation that celebrates the rugged beauty of the Pacific Ocean and Coastal Redwoods in a collaboration that brings together art, dance, and fashion design. I would put the funds towards realizing this project, which is the largest scale work I have ever created. Being a dancer my whole life, it is pure joy to bring my love of movement together with my visual art to create a new multidisciplinary approach in support of the environment.
