I am a teacher of Emotional Awareness. I get to create my own lessons and curriculum. Those lessons are my favorite art to create. My favorite lesson is a Mask project where students apply paper mache to a partners face to make molds, then, we meditate. During the meditation, we encounter our inner child and we embrace them. We awake and then we paint our masks as protection masks for our inner child. I have taught this class with students ages 15-18.
Where do you find inspiration?I have 3 main mediums, Poetry, Acting & Teaching. In Poetry, I find inspiration in God, Women, my Friends and Family, and Nature. In Acting, I find inspiration in a lot of the struggles in my past. Acting can feel weirdly lonely. Especially when I have played in Lead roles. What is weird is that I kind of appreciate the loneliness. In Teaching, I am inspired by my students and some close friends from my past who have passed away. They struggled with drug addiction. I think of them when I teach.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the money to fully invest in curating and piloting an Emotional Awareness & Stress Management 101 class to help prevent Depression, Drug Addiction & Suicide for High Schoolers. I have the curriculum written and need funds to foot it into school, public, private, charter and the like.
