I use natural and/or man-made objects sculpted by time and forces of nature. Creating art from cast off material is what I find seductive.

I have always enjoyed making art from repurposed materials. I have painted over thrifted paintings, old wood, and discarded weathered appliances that I’ve found on beaches and river banks. I’ve created art using old shoe soles,tires and parts from old cars and boats. I hope that by making art with these materials, I can demonstrate that something discarded or trashed can be utilized to make a thing of beauty instead of using new materials. There is a limit of resources on this planet.
Where do you find inspiration?Often I find inspiration in the materials that I find. I see images in the surface patina, rust, or textures that lead me to a composition. The beauty of the earth’s landscape inspires me to reflect it back to the viewer as a reminder of how fortunate we are to live here and that it is our responsibility to save what is irreplaceable.
What would you do with $25,000?There is some traveling that I would very much enjoy. My mother is an amazing 91 years old! She and I have dreamed for many years to travel to Japan to visit family and see the country. I would also visit family in Europe. Also, it would be fantastic to finish my art studio so that I can continue making the art that I love and teach others to enjoy the creative journey.
