I am known professionally as a portrait painter but have recently found pleasure in the challenge of finding other subject matter that is just as interesting to viewers. Caricatures, sewing, and printmaking are just some of the many other art forms in my daily studio practice.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the eerie beauty of the mundane. Through the use of color and composition, I draw attention to these often overlooked treasures, at times creating a sense of comfort and nostalgia that leaves viewers unable to look away.
What would you do with $25,000?Above all things, breathe. Pursuing the life of a creative is a constant battle of deciding whether to prioritize quality or quantity and living the consequences of choosing unwisely. This money would allow me to manifest my most ambitious projects without the overwhelming responsibility of keeping the lights on. I also have specific plans to grow my small business into a larger creative space where all age workshops and gallery events take place, giving hope to the next generation of artists.
