Creating art takes me to a place beyond my "conscious" self. My meditation... An opportunity to share my peace and curiosity.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Mixed media has become my favorite medium. My beginning in woodburning small “form and function pieces” has become the foundation for introducing different textures and dimension to tell a story. Fiber, paper, wire, found objects, crushed crystals and more, have become happy additions to the stories these pieces tell. Going through the process is always an adventure. I love to create pieces that stretch my “boundaries” and encourage the viewer to think, wonder, and hopefully feel inspired.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration everywhere. Walking outdoors leads me to thoughts real and abstract, about nature. The trees, the flowers, the clouds, the sky, the water, the creatures, all wonders. Music. Melodies, lyrics and execution, always giving. Movement… when the body moves inspiration flows. And finally, when I close my eyes in the dark, the images that randomly seem to appear from places unknown, offer inspiration from inexplicable realms beyond mySelf.
What would you do with $25,000?Truthfully, I would definitely take a vacation. Beyond that, I'd like to invest in collaborations with other wood artisans (furniture, lathe work...) to elevate our expression in a collective where everyone thrives.
