Art is communication, and that’s why I landed in animation and visual communication, where ideas don’t just speak, they move.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Animation appeals to me because it invites interpretation while still cutting straight through social barriers. A single movement, shape, or rhythm can carry meaning across backgrounds and experiences without needing a long explanation. That’s powerful. It lets creators speak directly to urgent issues in a way that feels vivid, accessible, and emotionally immediate. Animation isn’t just entertainment; it’s communication with motion, clarity, and a little bit of magic.
Where do you find inspiration?I thrive on inspiration from new mediums, so I pioneered the world's first color sand film, Hero Sandwich, premiering at the 1996 Olympics. It tackled handicapped parking with humor, smart, bold visuals that made a serious issue pop. Sand animation let me bend light, color, and motion in fresh ways, proving innovation cuts through noise and sparks real change.
What would you do with $25,000?With this prize, I'd create a unifying music video with physical art to bridge our political divide, free for 2026 campaigns, town halls, events, and speeches as filler. In tough times, art that brings people together beats division every time. Let's make connection the default, not the exception. https://www.happytrailsanimation.com/about/our-films/winter/
