Chiaroscuro is my favorite style of art to create. It is using strong contrasts of light and dark to create depth and emotion. The simple but powerful dynamic brings curiosity. It feels dramatic and peaceful at the same time. Like life, there is a beauty deep in the meaning of light and dark needing each other for a balance.
Where do you find inspiration?My inspiration comes from a lot of places depending on the seasons of my life and the world around me. I find it in my 102 year old grandmother, whose strength and perspective inspire me creatively and to persevere. Nature is a huge inspiration, the still moments where my mind can slow down and just be. I paint with earth pigment paint and mix organic elements. Many of my ideas/ creations come unexpectedly, out of nowhere, like a voice or in a dream; and I’ve learned to listen and follow them.
What would you do with $25,000?Receiving $25,000 would go towards continuing my education to become an art therapist. It has been a steady calling in my heart to help others through a healing and organic path of expressive arts therapy. This offering means so much to me and connects my love for creating and my desire to support healing in others. This once in a lifetime opportunity feels so aligned with my purpose and the Art of Elysium’s mission. I am beyond grateful for this moment ❤️
