I paint to remember moments in time where feeling and color converge, to enjoy my quiet nostalgia that comes through on dark nights.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I enjoy creating dark abstract landscapes that are more true to feeling rather than form, where light is minimal and color and shadow dance creating depth with small points of light.
Where do you find inspiration?I paint moments in my life where the light caused me to pause and reflect on my emotional state and my physical location. I'm captured by how the light falls in the darkness in that particular moment and then I work to paint that feeling. I hope my art gives people pause when they look at it. To feel the journey the light takes you on in my work, and then work to find the light in their own journey. Whatever point in life you’re at I believe you can find an inspiring light.
What would you do with $25,000?I’d invest a fourth in to my art practice, a fourth into my future children to set them up for success. A fourth into my car; I have a 2004 beater car that needs some love to keep her on the road. And the final fourth I would set aside to help my parents with their end of life care once they need it.
