I make art as a way of connecting with nature and the world around me. I am inspired by the colors, textures and shapes in the nature.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of pieces to create are pieces that celebrate our daily life, rituals and traditions. Each pieces starts out as a blank canvas. Pottery forms are three dimensional so that gives the opportunity to explore with color and pattern on more than one surface on a piece. I want to draw the viewer in to the pieces, so they are curious and examine them further. I love making pieces that make people smile.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the different ways that I have experienced the world around me. Nature in all its forms has inspired me from organic shapes to colors/patterns/textures found in flowers, dragonflies, turtles and fish. Experiencing other parts of the world and other artists has inspired my most recent work, colors and landscapes.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use it to purchase new equipment for my studio so I can keep exploring new ideas , but also use some of it to go to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London to study works in their collection.
